We started our trip in Casablanca arriving during Ramadan. To observe this religion and to understand the meaning of was very interesting.
Morrish architecture and a large city with mixture of old and new makes for this city to be a modern nation.
Onto Rabat – Moulay Idriss, Volubilis – Fes by train to these historic towns before heading to the most photographed city in Morocco, Chefchaouen, otherwise known as the blue city. Nestled in the glorious scenery of the Rif Mountains, it boasts one of the country’s most charming medinas, famous for its varied shades of blue paint that cover the walls. There are many (too many to list) theories why the city is painted blue!
Next was Tangier, the Mediterranean gateway to Africa.... we spent the day wandering around the city. We could see Spain easily, with only 8kms separating the counties.
Finishing off the day, dinner at the house of a local family. We were served a beautiful home cooked meal of couscous, soup and chicken ending with melon, biscuits and mint tea before heading to the station for our overnight train to Marrakech.
After a big week of adventures walking a lot of kilometres and climbing hundreds of steps we ended the week with a Hammam and massage, absolutely one experience I'll never forget, amazing!!
A Beautiful hike through the Atlas Mountains to stay in a local family run Gite, a village walk and visit to a local family home for tea!! One of my highlights of this fabulous trip!
A trip through the Atlas Mountains, simply stunning views, finishing in Ait Ben Haddou, very famous for movies being filmed here such as Gladiator.
213 steps to the top of Ait Kasbar for spectacular views!!
Then for one of the best experiences of all my travel trips! A night in the Sahara Desert, Camel trek to the dunes for sunset, fire and music, sleeping out under the stars..AMAZİNG
Continuing onto the beautiful seaside city of Essaouira was another favourite city to add to my list and last stop on this incredible tour of an amazing diverse cultural country of Morocco.
Food glorious food, Fresh seafood, horse riding on the beach and sunset overlooking the Atlantic Ocean!
What a way to finish our Morocco tour.
Morocco is truly an amazing country. Steeped in ancient culture and history, diverse countryside that just astounded us.
Full of so many wonderful surprises and new experiences, with such vast diverse landscapes, beautiful people who are so proud of their history and customs this journey was so culturally enlightening for me.
